Free Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Recycling in Surrey, Hampshire and Berkshire

WeeeCollect.com join forces with Bricks and Bread

Visit by Trudy Thompson, Founder of Bricks and Bread Sustainable Living Centre to inspect our depot

We pride ourselves on offering a friendly and transparent service to our customers. This week Trudy Thompson, the founder of Aldershot’s Bricks and Bread Sustainable Living Centre was invited for a tour of this pioneering business, as Trudy is looking for local sustainable businesses to join her network but only if they meet her stringent criteria. We offer free and easy electrical recycling for local people. This is the kind of initiative that Trudy's company is looking to encourage, but only if it is an ethical local business.

Trudy was shown the whole process from our office where we take the calls and arrange free collection of anything electrical from a hairdryer to a washing machine. Then we gave her a guided tour of our reprocessing depot in Aldershot.

Where local people are employed to run the automated process that breaks down the items into component parts. Large circuit boards are removed for their precious metals, plastic is set aside for collection by another recycling company, whilst the remaining waste is shredded on site to extract metals such as iron, steel, aluminium, copper and precious metals such as gold, silver, platinum and palladium from the smaller crushed circuit boards.

“I was very impressed with the team at Midex, not only a really nice bunch of people who are enthusiastic and keen to make a difference to their local community. But they are also going to great lengths to create a fun, safe and clean working environment for their staff. It is important that we verify the claims that companies make before we endorse them to work for us, as many are not as 'green' as they say in their advertising. We are looking for local businesses that offer a good level of service to local people, with our network of experts and companies we are providing easy access to good advice and beneficial services in our area. Recycling is one of those services that can easily mislead people, it is vital that we recycle as much as we can, especially electrical items as they are often just sent to landfill or incineration but contain valuable materials which can easily be recycled and turned into something else."

We are delighted to announce that The Bricks and Bread Sustainable Living Centre has accredited Midex with achieving one of the highest standards Trudy has seen for electrical recycling and are happy to let us join forces with the centre. Trudy has also networked her business with local artists who use recycled waste to make new products to be sold at the centre.

Now we have been allowed to join their network, we are actively working with the centre to find new ways to promote recycling to local people, making it as easy as possible to send waste to UK recycling plants, instead of letting things go into landfill, or sent abroad for less regulated companies to recycle.
