Frequently Asked Questions

Q. What items of WEEE do you collect?
A. Basically any waste or redundant electrical items with a plug or that contain batteries! Think ‘home’, ‘garden’, ‘garage’. The list is endless but includes - washing machines, cookers, dishwashers, **fridges, **freezers, microwaves, stereos, DVD players, TVs, radios, telephones, computers, printers, lawn mowers, power tools...
Q. Do I have to pay to have my WEEE and batteries collected?
A. We collect all batteries and WEEE (except for fridges/freezers**) for free!
** Note: Because of the difficulty of disposal, we do have to make a charge for fridges and freezers. Please contact the midexcollect.IT team for a quote.
Q. How do I know that people collecting from me are from midexcollect.IT?
A. You can’t miss us. We drive very distinctive vans and our trained collectors wear fluorescent yellow midexcollect.IT tops. Our drivers also carry Identification so, if in any doubt, please do ask to see their ID card.

Q. I have a midexcollect.IT leaflet with a collection date - what do I do now?
A. If there is a set collection date towards the bottom right of the leaflet it will also explain what you need to do. If you have anything you would like us to collect, simply:
  1. Sign the reverse of the leaflet (which authorizes us to collect)
  2. Leave your WEEE and batteries out before 08:00 on the collection date.
  3. If possible, attach your signed leaflet (yellow side showing) to your collection of WEEE, but most importantly ensure that the leaflet is clearly visible from the road.
All collections are subject to our Terms and Conditions.
Q. I have a midexcollect.IT leaflet without a collection date - what do I do now?
A. Simply contact us to arrange a collection. Please provide your name, address, postcode, contact details and a description of items that need to be collected. This list doesn't have to be precise but helps us to allocate van space on our rounds. To arrange a collection, you can contact us in one of four ways:
  • By online form
  • E-mail: collect@midexcollect.it
  • Text: 07775 123 978
  • Phone: 0871 2000 962 *
* Please note that calls to this number cost 10p per minute from BT landlines. Calls from other networks may be higher and from mobiles may be considerably more. All collections are subject to our Terms and Conditions.
Q. I have heard of midexcollect.IT but don’t have a leaflet – can you collect?
A. In some areas, yes. Please check coverage.
Q. Do you take old batteries?
A. Yes we do; we actively encourage you to use this service. It is especially important that you do not put old batteries in your normal bin as they could end up in landfill or be incinerated. Leave them out with your WEEE and we will dispose of them properly for you.
Q. Can you take my cooker from the kitchen?
A. Sorry, no. Only under exceptional circumstances can we enter your home. All items to be collected need to be left outside the confines of your property. If you require help removing large items please contact us.
Q. I left my WEEE out on the collection date. Why hasn’t it been collected?
A. If you left your WEEE out before 08:00 on the designated day of collection with your yellow leaflet clearly visible from the road then it should have been collected on the specified day. On some occasions our rounds may overrun to the next day. This can be due to circumstances beyond our control (road works, traffic etc) or because less able residents have needed more help and guidance on that particular day. If you think you may have been missed, please don’t worry, just contact us and we will re-arrange a collection where possible.
Q. Only some WEEE items have been taken. Why?
A. If this happens please contact us as soon as possible as this is an indication that someone, other than us, may have taken items without permission. The sooner you call, the sooner we can help.
Q. We live locally to your Aldershot facility, can we bring our WEEE to you?
A. Yes, you can bring it to us Monday-Friday 09:00am – 4:30pm and we will ensure it is treated properly. We are here. Ring the bell at our front entrance and someone will come and assist you.
