About WeeeCollect
Retailers of electrical and electronic equipment are required by law to offer customers buying a new electrical product a free method of recycling a similar unwanted item. Up to now they either have to take the waste item back into store or join the Distributor Take-Back Scheme (DTS). Nearly three years ago the DTS cost around 3,500 retailers £10 million in registration fees. Before the end of the year, retailers have to go through the same process again and either join the scheme or offer their customers an in-house recycling solution.
This time there is another option. WasteCare have established WeeeCollect.
WeeeCollect enables electrical retailers the opportunity to satisfy Regulation 39 of the WEEE Regulations without the need to take waste electrical back into store whilst at the same time avoiding the need to join the DTS.
WeeeCollect is a FREE national service for retailers and distributors.
