How can it be £6

The quoted figure of £6 per tonne, which we guarantee for the whole of the first compliance period, is for B2B Category 3. For every tonne of EEE in this category you placed on the market in 2006, you pay WeeeCare £6. For this we will collect, treat, recover and environmentally sound dispose of all your obligated WEEE that arises in the first compliance period

If you do not wish to pay up front to have your B2B WEEE costs ‘underwritten’ in this way, WeeeCare also offers significant cost advantages over most other schemes for what we call ‘Pay as WEEE go’ ie paying to dispose of the WEEE as it arises. This is because most other compliance schemes have no national collection infrastructure or treatment facilities. They have to rely on others doing it for them. They are therefore unable to differentiate between obligated and non-obligated WEEE. An electronics user wishing to dispose of waste EEE is normally expected to request collections through the producer or distributor requiring a lengthy line of command. This only adds cost and delays.

The WeeeCare way eliminates unnecessary administration and cost whilst at the same time ensuring B2B producers are only exposed to their minimum obligation under the regulations. WeeeCare will, if required, deal directly with the end user. Minimum collection volumes will apply to make sure all collections are economical. The user will be liable for all costs except those for handling proven obligated waste EEE.
